TENNIS SEASON CLOSED BY KAHUTARA CLUB. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Kahutara Tennis Club brought the season to a close on Saturday afternoon when the cups won during the season were presented by the patron (Mr A. C. Pearce). The winners of the trophies were: Championship cups donated by Mr and Mrs I. C. Bidwill: Ladies, Miss C. Bargh; men. R. Playle; ladies' handicap singles, Miss B. Pope; men’s handicap singles. W. Juno; combined handicap doubles, W. Juno and P. Hood; junior girls’ handicap singles, Phyllis Hood; junior boys' handicap singles. I. Simonek. Two miniature cups donated by Mr Victor Bargh were presented to the winners of the combined handicap doubles. The McDougal Shield, which is competed for each year by the Kahutara and Pirinoa clubs, resulted in a draw. Rex Playle (club captain) was asked to hold it for the first six months. Afternoon tea was provided by the lady members. NATIONAL RESERVE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Women's National Aeserve was held in the Red Cross Society's Depot, Miss Card being in the chair. There were also present Mesdames Ayre, Arch Clark, Charles, Fellingham. Hunter, Kilsby. Lawson, Lowell, Rea. Sharp, G. Yule, Bloxam, Tutbury. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Barry, H. Cundy, Halpin, J. G. McKenzie and Wakely and Misses Eva Card and E. Viles. Letters of appreciation were read from the Featherston Borough Council for the help given at the Anzac Day services; the Returned Soldiers’ Association for the support given at the R.S.A. Ball, and, the Medical Superintendent of the Porirua Mental Hospital for the branch’s annual gift of honey. Miss Card was re-elected president and Mrs Bloxam secretary. AU other members were constituted a committee of the branch. It was decided to hold Poppy Day on Friday, April 19. Arrangements were also made for the purchase of wreaths for Anzac Day and the annual gift of honey. It was decided to send a letter of appreciation to Mr Hayes and the High School girls for their help given on Poppy Day. Afternoon tea was provided by Miss Card and Mrs Bloxam. GUM GROVE LINKS OPENED FOR THE SEASON. There was a good attendance at the opening of the Gum Grove Links on Saturday( the ceremony in connection with which was performed by the president (Mr J. W. Card). Before play commenced Mr Card made a presentation to Mr H. Lovegrove in appreciation of the work carried out by him on the greens during the off season. A mixed foursome was played. Miss B. Rowles and Mr N. McCarty being the winners. A medal round is to be played next Saturday. Bowling. Sunday saw the conclusion of a very successful season for the Featherston Club. The club won the champion of champions singles (Mr H. Rolls), the pairs (Mr J. B. Davis and Mr J. Deas), rinks (Messrs J. B. Davis, L. James. J. Higginson, and J. Deas). This is thought to be the first occasion in which a Wairarapa club has won all these honours in the one season. Cold Weather. Today very cold weather is being experienced with occasional showers of rain. ,
