FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MEETING AT KAHUTARA. ("Times-Age" Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kahutara branch of the Women's Institute was held on Thursday, when there was a good attendance of members. The president (Mrs McKenna) extended a welcome to the four new members. Mesdames Elbe and Jenkins, and Misses Dynes and Money. Competitions resulted as follow: — Best nut toffee: Mrs D. Wilson 1; Mrs Duffy 2; Mrs Pope 3. Best bloom: Mrs McKenna 1; Mrs Rogers 2; Mrs Hood 3. The president welcomed the dominion secretary of the Red Cross Society, Captain Galloway, and Mrs Galloway, Mrs J. C. Bidwill, president ol the local branch, and other members of the Pihautea-Kahutara Red Cross branch and also the junior members who were the guests of the Institute. Captain Galloway gave a most interesting talk on the methods of the Red Cross Society and what is done by them in respect to assisting the sick and wounded as well as prisoners of war. and the distressed in other countries.
Mrs McKenna moved a vote of thank's to Captain Galloway. which was carried. The afternoon tea hostesses were Mesdames Popo, Colo. Sinclair, Pottinger and Misses Stansell and Warrington. Personal Items. Miss P. Warrington has returned from a visit to Napier. Mrs S. Grant. Pihautea. is visiting Wellington. Mrs D. A. Pattie, Dillon's Point. Blenheim, is visiting Featherston and is the guest of Mrs J. E. Willett.
