MARTINBOROUGH

BOROUGH COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Martinborough. Borough Council was held last night. There were present the Mayor (Mr C. W: Skill), Councillors M. N. Hardie, P. R. Plummer. G. P. Cotter, W. H. Corfield. The Mayor made feeling reference to the death of the late Prime Minister, the Hon M. J. Savage, and Councillors stood in silence for a few moments. The Inspector of Health wrote stating that the sanitary conveniences al the old Town Hall were inadequate, and that the license must not be renewed. It was decided that the letter be forwarded to the Trustees. The Masterton County Council forwarded a statement of the heavy traffic fees collected, the Martinborough Borough Council’s share being £BO 12s lid. The Wairarapa Power Board wrote stating that no contribution could be made towards Centennial memorials. The revenue received since the last meeting was £365 9s 3d. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £573 13s 9d. The Ranger reported having dealt with 12 head of stock during the month. Complaint was received concerning the leaky troughs in the Borough, and it was decided that a final warning be given to those concerned. The Overseer was instructed to attend to sundry small repairs at the morgue. Permission was granted to the Fire Brigade to burn the grass off some of the streets.
