FEATHERSTON

HAUNUI CROQUET CLUB PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the honorary members' day held in connection with the Haunui Croquet Club several competitions were held and an enjoyable time spent. The trophies won during the year were presented by Mrs. D. H. S. Riddiford (patron). These included a handsome silver cup donated to the club by Mrs. Riddiford to replace the one which had been won outright by Miss Esma Card. The competitions during the . year were won by the following:—A championship, Miss Esma Card; runner-up, Mrs. Hankers. B chaifipionship, Mrs W. Card; runner-up, Mrs. White. C championship. Mrs. White; runner-up. Mrs. J. B. Davis. Champion doubles. Mrs. Barry and Miss M. Nix; A grade' sealed handicap Singles. Miss Esma Card; B grade, Miss Viles; C grade. Mrs White. The president. Miss Eva Card, on behalf of members, thanked Mrs. Riddiford for having donated the silver cup for competition. She hoped that the names of all the members would in turn be engraved on the cup. Afternoon tea was served in the pavilion, the tables having” been tastefully decorated in the club coolurs by Miss Viles. The competitions resulted as follows: Centennial ladder. Mrs. Charles Elgar 1, Mrs. D. H. S. Riddiford 2; French. Mrs. Baker 1. Mrs. Charles 2; golf, Mrs D. H. S. Riddiford 1; peg, Mesdames G. S. Sharp. G. Harkness. S. Batchelor and A. W. Edwards; hurryscurry, Mesdames Knutson and Harkness; paper competition. Mrs. Palmer; lucky number, Mrs VI. Barton. Mrs. Riddiford and Mrs. Elgar extended invitations to members of the club to visit Longwood and Fernside respectively early next season. Personal. Mrs. Jarratt, Wanganui, and Mrs Scott, Bunnythorpe. are spending a few days with their sister, Mrs. W. Robinson. Red Cross Society. A box of goods is ready to send_to the Red Cross Society headquarters, it contains clothes for refugees, from Cross Creek; old linen, 8 pair socks. 3 pairs knitted bedsocks, from Western Lake; and 2 pairs of pyjamas, 13 balaclavas, 3 scarves, 6 pairs socks, 6 caps. 1 hot water bag cover, from Featherston and Kahutara.
