WOMEN’S WELFARE LEAGUE
MEETING IN MASTERTON. APPEAL FOR CLOTHING. The monthly meeting of the Women's National Welfare League was hold yesterday afternoon in the Midland Hotel. Masterton. Those present were Miss Kummer (in the chair), Mesdames Charleson, Watson. Harrison. McKenzie, Page, McCracken, F. Reynolds, Coleman, Fletcher. Drummond, Tolhurst, Garland. Glen. Misses Boddingten, Beiliss and-M. Cameron. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Munn, Jordan. Kilgour, Whyborn, Hunter. Misses Guild and Vallance. At the opening of the meeting members stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of the Prime Minister, the late Rt Hon M. J. Savage. An appeal was issued to members for clothing for women and children in Finland. Contributions which are urgently required are to be forwarded through the local branch of the Red Cross Society. Mrs Tolhurst report on three visits paid to the Hospital during March.. Mesdames Watson and McCracken will be among the visitors for the coming month.
Nirs A. W. McKenzie reported that eight necessitous cases had been visited during the month and that assistance had been given them by the League. It was decided that the annual meeting be held on Friday, May 3, at the Midland Hotel at 2.30 p.m. Nominations of office-bearers for the coming year are to be in the hands of the secretary not later than April 20.
