WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT GLADSTONE. FLECTION OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs McKay presided over a very good attendance of members at the annual meeting held recently. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mrs Joblin; secretary Miss J. Palmer; committee, Mesdames Bradley. Crewe, Wellwood, McKay, Wyeth. Smith, Cooper. Misses J. Bubb and C. Cooper. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mesdames Rankin and Musgrove for acting as scrutineers. Miss O. Walton gave a very interesting talk on Institute work which was much appreciated. She then presented the points prizes won during the year as follows: Bloom, Miss C. Cooper 1; Mrs Wyeth 2. Handwork, Miss N. Wyeth 1; Mrs Crew, Miss Crew and Miss D. Dalgleish equal 2. Two new members were elected. Misses J. Palmer and N. Wyeth were appointed delegates to attend the Federation meeting in Masterton. The monthly prizes were won as follows: Smocked apron. Mrs P. Cooper. Bloom. Mrs Bubb. The retiring committee served afternoon tea. At the April meeting the competitions will be: Best article made from a man's coloured handkerchief; best bloom. The meeting was brought, to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
