FIRE BRIGADE ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Eketahuna Municipal Volunteer Fire Brigade was held last evening. Superintendent H. E. Rogers presiding over a large attendance of members, honorary members and friends. The annual report and balance sheet were adopted without discussion. The balance-sheet showed the finances ol the brigade to be in a sound position. The annual report stated that during the year three alarms were received and that the actual fire loss would be covered by £5O. The brigade musters for the year were 27 and the average attendance of members 19. Secretary S. Daniel was present at 27 meetings Supt. Rogers 26. Senior overseer J. H. Ryan 26, Fireman Jesson 26, Fireman O’Regan 23, Fireman Leslie 23. Messenger Parsons 23, Fireman Kendall 22, Dep Supt Daniel 21. Foreman J. A. Ryan 21, Fireman Dickson 20, Fireman Carter 20. The plant of the brigade had been fairly well maintained. The membership of the brigade underwent several changes during the year. The loss of Firemzn Hodgson and Kendall was deeply regretted, the former having left Eketahuna and the latter joining the Air Force as a mechanic. The foreman also submitted a comprehensive report on the equipment which is in very good order. The election of officers resulted: Superintendent, H. E. Rogers; Deputy-Sup-erintendent, H. M. Daniel; secretary, S. Daniel; treasurer, G. Jesson; Foreman J. A. Ryan: Station officer, J. H. Ryan; Motorman, H. Leslie; social committee. S. Daniel, R. Fafeita and H. Leslie. The secretary and treasurer (Mr J. Dickson) were complimented on the manner in which they had carried out their duties during the year.
It was decided to send Mrs H. S. Carter a letter of sympathy in her illness. .' Fireman M. Carter was granted an extra month’s leave of absence. At the conclusion of the business an enjoyable social was held when the usual toasts were honoured Mothers’ Union. There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting ol the Mothers’ Union. The speaker for the afternoon was the Rev L. Ives, who gave an interesting talk on “bee Keeping.” The speaker was accorded a hearty vote of thanks at the conclusion of his address. The hostesses for the afternoon wore Mesdames J. Tolley, E. D. Toohill. M. Herbert and H. Gray. Personal. Mrs W. Green. Stanley Street, has returned from a visit to Wellington.
