TENNIS CONTEST AILSA MCDONALD CUPS. ('•Times-Age” Special.) A tennis match between the Featherston and local high schools in the Ailsa McDonald memorial cups competition, played on the local courts yesterday, resulted in a win for the Featherston girls and a win for the Martinborough boys. The results were as follows. Featherston players being mentioned first in each case: —Singles: Girls.—C. Bargh beat P. Duffy, 7/1; B. Pope lost to K. Te Maire. 6/7; M. Juno lost to E. Caseley, 5/7; P. Hood beat S. Caseley, 7/0. Boys.—R. Te Tau lost to P. Craig. 2/9; J. Pope lost to W. McKinley, 1/9; C. Hawke lost to B. Grant, 4/9; R. Lovegrove lost to N. Alpe, 5/9. Doubles: C. Bargh and N. Juno beat P. Duffy and K. Te Maire, 7/5; B. Pope and P. Hood lost to E. and S. Caseley, 1/7. Hawke and Pope lost to W. McKinley and B. Grant, 4/9; Te Tau and Lovegrove lost to Craig and Alpe, 3/9.

ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH BIBLE CLASS GATHERING. After the weekly meeting of the St Andrew’s Bible Class last evening, members of the class enjoyed a banquet which was provided by the mothers of members. All kinds of eatables were on the tables, a few items were rendered and various members were called on to make speeches. A very novel gathering concluded with a community sing.

STATE HOUSES READY FOR OCCUPATION. The State houses are now ready for occupation and already tenants are moving in. Personal Items. Mrs Nelson Bramley is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. A. lorns. of Dyerville. Mrs C. R. Poulter is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr and Mrs J., Kane will remain in Wellington whilst the Achilles is there. Mrs Johnston, of Wanganui, is staying with Mr and Mrs R. P. George.
