Pedigree Pigs. Yesterday afternoon Mr E. T. Bliss of Parkvale, railed to a client at Te Kawa, Waikato, a purebred Berkshire boar. The animal was an excellent specimen of the breed. By the north mail train a Berkshire boar from a breeder in Palmerston North was unloaded at Carterton for Mr Hercock. An Anxious Time. What looked like a very ugly position for a drover cropped up yesterday afternoon when he was driving a large mob of sheep across the Kent Street railway crossing. He was faced with the oncoming mail train when the sheep commenced to cross the line the signal was against the train and that being so. the train was not expected. When half the large mob of sheep was across the line the whistling of the train signalled its approach. There was considerable commotion for a time in an effort to get the sheep across the line and even to prevent their crossing by dividing the flock, but the sheep refused to be parted and persisted in crossing. Seeing the predicament of the drover the' train driver brought the train to a standstill until the sheep were safely across the line, much to the relief of the drover. .Personal Items.
