SOLDIER ENTERTAINED ENJOYABLE GATHERING. t (“Times-Age” Special.) At the Rakanui Hall on Tuesday, the settlers entertained Private Roy Shipton, a member of the N.Z. military forces, at a social. During the course of lhe evening. Private Shipton was presented with a watch suitably engraved. A shoulder spray was presented to Mrs. F. West, the hostess. Addresses were given by Mrs. Darlington and Mr. H. Harold. The hall was prettily decorated in red, white and blue and with greenery. Music for the dancing was provided by visitors from Palmerston North and local residents. Messrs. H. Harold and V. O'Brien were M.’sC. The gathering, which was a most enjoyable one, was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “God Save the King.”
