GOLF CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the .Pirinoa Golf Club was held in the hall when Mr F. Lovegrove presided over a fair attendance of members. Prior to the commencement of business the chairman referred to the great loss the • club had sustained in the death of Mr R. McDougall. The members stood in silence when a motion. moved by the chairman and seconded by Mr Carter, was carried. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted, the latter revealing the club to be in a sound financial position. Correspondence was received from the New Zealand Golf Council with reference to raising funds for patriotic purposes. It was decided to accede to the request of the council and that a flag competition for this purpose be held on the opening day The following officers were elected fcr the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr G. J. Gillies; president. Mr W. T. Hume; secretary and treasurer, Mr Duncan Didsbury; chairman, Mr F. Lovegrove; handicapper and club captain. Mr B. McMaster; men’s committee, Messrs Hall, T. Hume. B. McMaster, Munro, D. Didsbury and Tikao; green’s committee, Messrs B. McMaster. S. Hall and G. Munro. The ladies’ committee was left to the lady members to appoint. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, March 30. It was resolved that members of the New Zealand Forces be permitted to piay on the course without having to pay green fees . > A long discussion ensued over a proposal that players be permitted to tee up on the fairways. It was eventually decided to defer the matter for further discussion on opening day. It was unanimously resolved that the club erect a memorial notice board in the golf house in memory of the late Mr R. McDougall, and that the matter be left in the hands of Messrs Hume and Didsbury. WOMEN’S INSTITUTE ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. The annual meeting of the Pirinoa Women’s Institute was held in the hall. Mrs Spicer presided over a large attendance. The following officers were elected foi the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Spicer; vice-presidents, Misses Hanlon and Scrimegour; secretary, Mrs Priest; treasurer, Mrs Lovegrove; committee. Mesdames Carter, G. Gaudin, Thomas, D. Mclntosh, Marshall. Macdonald, Atkinson and Sutton.

During the afternoon the points prizes for the year -were presented to Mrs Priest, and to Mrs Marshall and Miss Hanlon who tied for second place. A special gift was presented to Mrs Priest for her work as secretary. Mrs Spicer in making the presentation referred to the untiring efforts made by Mrs Priest in furthering the work of the branch. Mrs Priest suitably replied. Parcels were made up in readiness for dispatch to the troops overseas. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Mclntosh Junr., Sutton, and Misses Scrimegour and McKenzie: Personal Items. Mr Kaka Matenga recently returned from a visit to Gisborne. Mr and Mrs Adamson, Te Kuiti, are staying at the Lake Ferry. Mr and Mrs F. Lovpgrove have returned from a holiday. Mr and Mrs Mclsaac and Mr McIsaac Sen.-., Blenheim, are staying with Mr and Mrs Gordon Mclssac. Mrs Nicol is the guest of Mr and Mrs Stewart, Te Pare. Messrs Te Wiata and McDonald propose spending the Easter holidays in the Manawatu district. Mr A. H. Warren and his nephew, Mr Norman Martin, have left for Waikaremoana, where they will 'spend the Easter holidays. Mrs J. Carter and Mr and Mrs Enoka left today for Nuhaka, where they will attend the annual conference of the Mormon Church which is being held there during Easter. Mrs Cartelwill go on to Gisborne after the meeting to visit her daughter, Mrs Pilmer, who is a patient in the Gisborne Hospital. Mr Johnston, of the Native Housing Department, was a visitor here for a few days. Mrs Reinga Matenga, Mangatete. is an inmate of the Greytown Hospital. Mr and Mrs G. Didsbury, Wellington, will spend the Easter holidays with their son, Mr D. Didsbury. Mr B. McMaster is visiting Napier where he will take part in the Easter golf tournament. Mr G. Munro will visit Christchurch at Easter. Mr Dudley Jones; who has been secretary of the Pirinoa Golf Club for a number of years resigned at the annual meeting of the club on Wednesday evening. The resignation was accepted with regret, and appreciation of the valuable services rendered by Mr Jones was voiced by several members. Native Housing Scheme. Preparations are being made for the erection of further houses for Natives under the Native Housing Scheme. Outlet of Lake Closed.
