M. DALADIER REFUSES TO FORM CABINET
M. REYNAUD CALLED IN.
MINISTRY OF NATIONAL UNION
PROPOSED.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) PARIS. March 20. M. Daladier refused to form a new Cabinet and the President (M. Lebrun) called in M. Reynaud, who agreed to form a Cabinet. M. Daladier is believed to have told M. Lebrun that last night's vote in the Chamber necessitated the Government’s resignation. The sudden resignation of M. Daladier and his supporters has surprised the public. Although it is announced that M. Reynaud has agreed to form a Cabinet, it transpires that he reserves his answer to M. Lebrun’s request until tomorrow, to enable him to assess Tils chances. M. Reynaud is reported to envisage a National Union Cabinet, ranging from Left Wing politicians like M. Blum to Right Wing representatives! Some political circles believe that M. Daladier may yet form a Cabinet on a radical basis, relinquishing the Foreign Affairs or War portfolios.
