On the motion of the chairman, Mr. A. Campbell Pearce, seconded by Mr. IT. P. A. pi'otracted discussion followed a motion by Mi-. S. Dalgleish dealing with contributions towards Centennial funds and patriotic funds. After many changes had been made, in the original the following was passed:— ‘‘That although the Centennial memorial funds are quite worthy objects, no contribution be made by the board towards such funds during the period of the war.”

"That any contribution or donation which the board is able to make, be towards any funds which may be for tile prosecution of the war and approved by the board." Tlie chairman referred to the wonderful exploit of the Achilles and offered congratulations to the personnel on behalf of the board. Mr. G. Brown (secretary-manager) reported on an interview he had had (together with the chairman and the engineer. Mr. H. B. Keenan) with the Chief Electrical Engineer, Mr. Kissell, regarding an increase in the capacity of the transformers on which the board was dependent for a supply of power to this district. The matter was being investigated and provision would be made in the meantime to make a transformci- available in the event of onebreaking down.

The Greytown Borough Council wrote thanking the board for its assistance at the local Centennial celebrations.

A resolution, of which notice had been given by Mr. F. Daniell, dealing with the erection of transmission lines by consumers was held over for discussion until the April meeting of the board.
