WOMEN’S GUILD ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Kahu-tara-Pahautea Guild was held recently, when there was a good attendance of members. Mrs Bidwill was in the chair. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mesdames Matthews, Siemonek, A. C. Pearce and Rendle in their recent bereavements. Mrs Bidwill was re-elected president and Mrs A. C. Pearce secretary. Afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames Pope, Pearce and Matthews. THEFT OF MONEY ACCUSED SENT TO GAOL. Messrs C Ritchie and N. C. C. Shepherd, J's.P., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court, when C. L. Ferguson was charged with stealing a £5 note, the property of J. Mutter. Defendant pleaded not guilty. Evidence was given by Detective Scott that when approached in Wellington accused denied having been in Featherston, but later admitted that he was in Featherston on the date on which the money was missed. Accused was identified by Mr -and Miss Mutter, who stated that immediately after the accused had wanted to buy some flowers the money was missed. 1 The justices imposed a sentence of six months’ imprisonment. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs R. Mclntyre and their daughter, Mrs Poulter, Mr G. Smith, Mr and Mrs Smyth, Mr and Mrs Forsyth and Mr and Mrs Norman, all of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna ,of Pahautea. , Messrs P. Graham, H. True and J. Cherry, all of Trentham Camp, are to be entertained by the settlers of Kahutara, Pahautea and Pukio tonight. Mr Victor Bargh, a son of Mr and Mrs C. Bargh, of Pahautea, will go into the Weraroa Air Force Camp on April 9. Mr W. Bargh will go into camp early next month with the third echelon. School Association. Miss Card presided at a meeting of the Home and School Association held on Monday night. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Carlyon, Harkness, Halpin, Rea, M. Robbins, Allen and Shepherd. Mrs Rea’s resignation was received with regret. A vote of condolence was passed with Mrs Rea in her recent bereavement. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on April 22. Bowling. Weekend play in the progressive pairs on the Featherston green resulted in a win for J. Deas (skips) and W. Kariatiana 'leads).
