MARTINBOROUGH
DANCE FOR SOLDIERS AN ENJOYABLE GATHERING. (“Times-Age" Special.) Last evening the Town Hall was packed when a dance was held in honour of the local soldiers. The Municipal Band supplied the dance music, extras being played by Mr T. Udy, Miss N. Prussing, Mrs Soughtton and Mr Duffy. Mr A. Beveridge was M.C. Dancing was interspersed with items which were rendered by Mrs T. Boyd (song), Mr McLennon (violin solo) and Mrs Sadd (recitation), each being enthusiastically applauded. The Mayor, Mr C. W. Skill, wished the guests the best of luck and a safe return. Mr Thomas, president of the R.S.A., spoke in a similar manner, after which the Mayor presented each soldier with a small gift. > Private lan Nicol thanked the Mayor and the people of Martinborough for their good wishes. The soldiers were accorded musical honours. Dancing continued until midnight, the gathering being brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.”
