JOHNSONVILLE SALE

STEADY DEMAND FOR LAMBS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. No prime heavyweight bullocks were forward at the sale conducted in Johnsonville yesterday, the yarding comprising medium-weight cattle and a few pens of lighter weights. Prime quality bullocks met with a good sale at prices showing no alteration on those of last week. Light and unfinished bullocks were easier by 5s to 10s a head. The yarding of cows and heifers was of exceptional quality. All classes met with keen competition, prices for heavy cows being firm on those of last week, and those for medium and light sorts showing no alteration. Only a few pens of prime quality vealers Were forward. Good quality vealers sold readily, though plain sorts were unwanted.

The quality of the wethers was good, and prices were little changed. Unfinished wethers were difficult of sale. The ewes, which were of good quality, brought prices firm on those of last week. The demand for lambs was steady, and prices rose by 6d to Is a head. Prices are —

Cattle. —Prime heavy bullocks. £l4 to £l3; heavy, £l2 18s to £l2 10s; light and unfinished, £l2 5s to £ll ss; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £9 18s to £8 12s 6d; prime heavy, £8 10s to £7 17s 6d: cows and heifers, £7 10s to £6 Is; extra heavj r runners, £4 15s to £3 ss; runners and vealers. £2 12s 6d to £1 18s; small calves. 30s to 12s.

Sheep.—Prime extra heavy wethers, 27s to 25s 6d; prime heavy. 25s to 22s 8d; medium, 22s to 19s lOd; prime extra heavy ewes, 20s to 18s 6d; prime heavy, 18s to 17s; medium, 16s 6d to 12s; heavy lambs, 24s to 22s 6d; lambs. 22s to 20s; shorn lambs, heavy, 22s 6d to 225; light, 19s to 17s.
