GREYTOWN SCHOOL
ANNUAL SWIMMING SPORTS KEEN CONTESTS. LIST OF PRIZE-WINNERS. ("Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown baths were the scene of a pleasant and instructive afternoon’s entertainment yesterday when the annual swimming sports of the Greytown District High School were held in good conditions. Although the water was cold there was a large number of entries, for which the house system was in some measure responsible. Some excellent races and very close finishes were witnessed and these bore testimony to the work being given by the teachers towards this side of school life, especially during the past two years. The house leaders gave excellent service in marshalling their competitors, and assisted materially in the success of the running. Those responsible for the sports were: Mr S. Shedden. timekeeper and convenor of judges, Mr G. S. Maloney, announcer and organiser; Mr T. Anker, starter. Mr M. Whimp. Miss D. Tully and Miss B. Anker were judges, Mr R. Pekard diving judge and Miss W. Harding. Miss E. I. Stephens. Miss I. Askew and Miss C. G. Keddell recorders. Towards the close of the programme Mr Shedden thanked all who had contributed to the afternoon’s success, and expressed pleasure at the attendance of so many friends and parents. The house points for the programme, without being checked, gave Moa the lead with 175 points from Kiwi (131). Huia (130) and Tul (82). House teams will now set about eagerly to retrieve or maintain their reputations at the school athletic sports to be held on Friday. March 15. at the school. Results as as follow: —•
