ALFREDTON
EXHIBITION TENNIS visit Of north island CHAMPION. ("Times-Age” Special.) During the weekend Alfredton tennis enthusiasts were privileged to see the North Island champion, Mr R. Howe, in action on the local courts. Mr Howe gave valued coaching and participated in a number of exhibition matches with local players. He is representing the Physical Welfare Department and his presence brought a large number of spectators to the courts. Personal. Mr,and Mrs J. B. Smith gave a farewell party on Saturday evening to Messrs Hylton George and Bruce Burney on the eve of their departure to join the R.A.F. at Weraroa. Levin. A very enjoyable evening was spent. Mr and Mrs Staples, Christchurch, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. Dickens. Mr and Mrs E. Walker (Wellington) arc on a visit to Mrs W. Brannigan. Mr and Mrs M. Stone-Wigg are holidaying at Ruamati Beach. Dipping Delayed. Adverse weather conditions are delaying dipping operations and farmers are eagerly awaiting favourable weather to finish seasonable occupations.
