GERMAN MENACE

TROOPS MASSED ON SWISS FRONTIER SAID TO BE MERELY RESTING. HOSTILE PRESS CAMPAIGN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. BASLE, March 2. After a vigorous German Press campaign against Switzerland, large-scale troop movements on the German side of the Swiss frontier are reported for the first time since the outbreak of war. Many contingents of Austrian and Bavarian troops have arrived at villages across the Rhine from Basle to Lake Constance. German sources say the troops are merely resting. Swiss officials do not appear to be specially alarmed. The army's strength is expected to reach 500,000 shortly.
