A reminder that New Zealand’s greatest lawn tennis player. Anthony Wilding, who was killed in the Great War. is still remembered wherever lawn tennis is played, was given at the reception to the visiting Australian players by their leader, Mr J. H. Crawford. Wilding Park in Anthony Wilding’s home town is a memorial to this great sportsman, and Mr Crawford said that wherever he went in all parts of the world he found this name engraved on cups and trophies. He himself possessed four of the Anthony Wilding Shields given to winners of the Australian championship, and they were among his proudest possessions.
