RAIN IN WAIRARAPA

BENEFIT TO FARMERS & OTHERS. MINOR FLOODING IN STREETS.' Rain which has been more or less general in several parts of New Zealand during the past day or two extended to the Wairarapa and East Coast today and rivers are running at high level. A considerable amount of minor flooding occurred in Masterton today as the result of blocked water-culverts. Tiie water backed up over a fair area of the roadway in some places but in no case was it sufficient to cause any blockage of traffic. The rain will be generally welcomed by farmers and gardeners, as although frequent light falls have been record--cd in the district during the past month there has been no substantial fall.
