MORE FLIGHTS

MADE BY BRITISH PLANES

OVER GERMANY MANY SEARCHLIGHTS ROAM THE SKY. NO CHALLENGE BY ENEMY MACHINES. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. LONDON, February 28. When, for the fifth time since the war began, a British bomber Hew over Berlin again last night thousands of leaflets were dropped over the principal streets and squares of the capital, and this time, many searchlights roamed the sky as the plane swooped low over the city, but only one beam held the aircrait lor more than, a few seconds. There was again no challenge by enemy planes, and only one burst of anti-aircraft shells was fired during the flight. The British plane approached Germany flying high, but it passed over Berlin and Hanover at a lower altitude Other machines of the R.A.F. also made a flight over Germany, paying the second visit in two days. In addition to Berlin and Hanover, places visited were the naval bases at Kiel and Cuxhaven.

Of the many flights over a large area in Germany in the last six days that over the Ruhr district on Monday provided a little more excitement than the others.

Pilots said that the Germans sent up pom-pom and fire shells and used coloured searchlights. One pilot said it seemed as though someone had pressed a button or released a giant lever which lit everything up at once, yet not a soul -was hit. Messerschmitt fighters were seen at several places, yet they did not attack.

The crew of one of the two German raiders shot down off the coast of Northumberland yesterday is still missing, though launches and aircraft searched for them all night. They were shot down by a pilot of the fighter squadron formed as a result of the gift of the Nizam of Hyderabad. An unidentified aircraft again flew over the Netherlands last night, and the official statements issued at The Hague today said that it was fired on in several places.
