PRISONERS TAKEN
ACCORDING TO GERMAN REPORT. FIERCE PATROL FIGHTING ON WEST FRONT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) BERLIN. February 29. A communique states: “There were patrol activities on the border line west from Merzig and we took several prisoners. Some enemy planes flew over north-west Germany on the night of February 27/28. Two flew via the Dutch-German frontier. The News Agency states: “In fierce hand-to-hand fighting in woods, our infantry, which is specially well trained for close conflict, inflicted bloody loss upon the enemy, who fought courageously. so there were also some light wounds on our side. Despite the intervention of enemy artillery, our patrol returned at full strength.” MORE ACTIVITY AMONG ADVANCE UNITS. (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) P/XRIS, February 29. A communique states that there is activity among advance units west of the Vosges and firing from casemates.
