Mr E. G. Mitchell has been appointed secretary of the Canterbury Rugby Union in succession to Mr J. O. McGillivray, who has resigned. Mr Mitchell is a member of a well-known football family. His father and uncles were all leading players in Otago and Southland, and a cousin is the All Black, Mr N. A. Mitchell. After holding the secretarial position for 1!) years. Mr McGillivray has decided to retire, and Mr Mitchell will take over his duties early next month. At present he is a member of the Christchurch staff of the Public Trust Office.
