PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr and Mrs J. Carter have recently returned from a short visit to Otaki. Mrs H. Swainson, Lake Ferry, has returned from a short holiday spent in Palmerston North. Mr W. Mikaera, Te Hopai, was a visitor to Wellington recently and was the guest of Mr and Mrs Kemp. Mrs D. Sutherland. Waihora, is visiting relatives in Blenheim. Miss Walker, Dannevirke, is the guest of Miss Taurau, Kohinui. Mr and Mrs Geo. Te Whaiti have left for Hastings io attend the wedding of the former’s niece, Miss Mihi Te Whaiti. Housing Scheme. Good progress is being made with the erection of the houses in this district under the Native Housing Scheme. Justice of the Peace. Advice has been received from the member for the district, Mr B. Roberts, M.P., that the Minister will, when the appointments of Justices of the Peace are made for the Dominion consider the appointment of one for this district in place of the late Mi’ R. McDougall, deceased. Pastures Benefit. Although the weather has cleared now conditions were, unfavourable at the weekend. Pastures have benefit,ted considerably by the rain which fell heavily on Saturday. Women’s Institute Picnic. The local Women's Institute has decided to hold its annual picnic in conjunction with the school picnic which will take place on Friday, Marqh 8.
