PLUNKET APPEAL

HOUSE TO HOUSE CANVASS BEGUN. NEED FOR SPECIAL EFFORT STRESSED. The house to house canvass being conducted this week in furtherance of the annual appeal of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society was launched today. A liberal response is confidently expected from the public. Officials of the society recall, as appropriate and pertinent today, a statement made by the late Sir Truby King in 1915: “In view of the wastage of human life clue to the casualties in the European War, we feel that we should all make even greater efforts than heretofore in trying to ensure for the rising generation the best possible conditions for health, so that our children may not only survive, but may grow up thoroughly strong and capable of taking their places worthily in the battle of life."
