NAVY LEAGUE
‘ LADIES’ AUXILIARY MEETING IN MASTERTON. KNITTED GARMENTS FOR MEN OF SEA SERVICES. L A well attended meeting of the Lad- ' ies’ Auxiliary of the Navy League was ' held in Masterton yesterday afternoon, 1 Mrs A. Caselberg presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mes- ■ dames C. C. Jackson, H. W. Baty, W. G. Lamb. J. C. Forsyth. H. McKenzie Douglas, and the Misses Maunsell aitd J. McLaren. The resignation of Miss Maunsell as a member of the committee was received and accepted with regret. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on March 12, at 2.30 p.m. Mrs Caselberg was appointed delegate to represent the Navy League on the Mayoress’s Patriotic Committee. Mesdames A. Caselberg, S. R. Gawith, Drummond, Norman and Miss Sellar were elected to an advisory and purchasing sub-committee to decide any urgent questions which may arise. Advice was received from the London Head Office that the Navy League, after consultation with the Admiralty, was asking all members to knit for men of the Royal Navy and other sea services. Scarves, pullovers, mitten gloves, and helmets, are much needed, but not socks. It was decided to hold a "copper trail’’ on a day in April, probably Friday, April 5, to raise money for the wool fund. The first appeal to members to knit for the men of the sea services has met with an excellent response, and to date 74 garments, including 44 scarves, 22 pairs of socks, 3 balaclavas, 2 pullovers and 3 pairs of mittens have been received, and £7 in donations.
