PLUNKET SOCIETY MONTHLY SITTING. (“Times-Age” special.) Tiie monthly meeting of the Eketahusa sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held at the Fire Brigade Station, the president Mrs C. E. Albrechtsen in the chair, there being also present Mesdames V. Richardson, L. Ives, and Gray. An apology for absence was received from Mrs J. McAnulty. The secretary, Mrs A. S. Carter, was absent through illness. Mrs L. Ives was appointed secretary for the duration of Mrs Carter's illness. A letter of sympathy is to be forwarded to Mrs Carter wishing her a speedy recovery to health. The nurse's report was read and adopted. A garden party in aid of the branch’s funds will be held at Mrs J. McAnulty’s residence. Kaiparoro on Saturday. February 24. The secretary desires to acknowledge with thanks a subscription of 5s from Mrs Gray. ANGLICAN CHURCH SUCCESSFUL SALE OF WORK. Owing to unfavourable weather the garden party in aid of the Anglican Church funds which was to have taken place at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. H. Herbert on Saturday afternoon had ' to be abandoned. It had been previousl yarranged, however that should the weather interfere with the holding of the garden party, a sale of work and produce be held in the Sunday school room. This was duly held, and, despite the wet day, was exceedingly well patronised. The various stalls were well stocked and good business resulted. The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt Rev H. St Barbe Holland, after a very interesting address, declared the sale opened. Competitions held during the afternoon resulted as follow: Cake, Mrs F. Preston, dinner. Miss Anderson. The stall holders and helpers were as under, produce, Mesdames Gray and J. Tolley; cake, Mrs Murray-Ansley and Miss Simmers; fruit salad, Mrs Wilkie Anderson and Miss McAnul.ty; sweet, Mrs and Miss K. Herbert: needlework, Mesdames H, Price and G. U. Simmers; hoop-la Mesdames C. E. Albrechtsen and S. Marenzi; tea rooms. Mesdames E. D. Toohill, J. Gaskin, S. Daniel. W. Evans, Scott, Misses Kace (2) and Jaspers (2); games. Messrs W. Anderson and D. Fraser. BOWLING BRYNE CUP WON BY EKETAHUNA A rink of Eketahuna bowlers, consisitng of Messrs D. Fraser, W. Green, J. Ammundsen and W. Simpson (s) journeyed to ’Woodville oh Saturday to play Horne's team for the Bryne Cup. The playing conditions were not at all pleasant as heavy rain was experienced during the play. The local men were successful in winning th trophy by 24 point to 15. Personal Items. Mr R. Crocken, Masterton. was a visitor to Masterton for the weekend. Mr A. Hardingham is confined to his home with a severe attack of influenza.
