FEATHERSTON
SWIMMING CARNIVAL EVENTS ON SATURDAY. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a fair attendance at the Centennial Swimming Carnival held on Saturday under unfavourable conditions. Mr J. W. Card briefly spoke of the celebrations held recently in other parts of the North Island, and mentioned that Featherston had also contributed its share to the other memorials. In declaring the carnival open he wished those present a pleasant time. The results were as follow: —

The cups were won as follows: — Lang Cup (50 yards ladies’ handicap), P. Davis. President's medal (100 yards breaststroke), Phyllis Hatton. Diving cup and miniature, donated by the business people of Featherston, W. Brown (Greytown). Relay cup. donated by Mr J. W. Card, Martinborough. OBITUARY MRS F. SIEMONEK. The death occurred suddenly at her home on Sunday morning of Mrs Catherine Amelia Siemonek, wife of Mr Frank Siemonek, of Kahutara, at the age of 51 years. The late Mrs Siemonek was highly respected and did considerable useful work in the interests of the district in which she had resided for the last 25 years. She leaves a husband, a son and a daughter to mourn their loss. The funeral took place today. Day of Intercession. The services at the special Day of Intercession in St. John’s Church were taken by Mr A. S. Kilsby.
