BOWLING
MASTERTON CLUB. (NOTES BY “THE BOWLER.") A large number of bowlers were in attendance at the Masterton bowling green on Saturday last. Were they happy? Oh. no! Keen disappointment was expressed by all bowlers that they were unable, on account of the rain, to follow their favourite pastime. The competitors in the club fours and champion fours were only able to play six or seven heads, and then a hurried exit was made for the pavilion. While awaiting afternoon lea, one of the vice-presidents of the club, Mr H. H. Daniell, took the opportunity, on behalf of the club, of wishing many happy returns to Mr A. W. Chapman, one of the oldest and most respected members of the club, who on that day was celebrating his birthday. The large number present heartily sang "For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow." The club will shortly be losing a popular member. Mr Latimer has been transferred from Masterton to Wanganui, and I feel sure that all club members will join with me in wishing Mr Latimer every success in the future and that he may enjoy good health. The committee of the club will be pleased if those taking part in the champion fours will make a special effort to conclude their games during the present week.
