Beau Repaire In Good Forip. Trilliarch, Maneroo, Trig Station, Silveyor, Cappy and Glenbeavan impressed most over the sprint distances at T-: Rapa yesterday, when the going on the No 2 grass was heavy after overnigh' rain. Beau Repaire (Hall) was sen' over a round, being picked up by Marshall Hall (Brady) over the last threcfurlongs. Timed from the six furlonf peg he came home from there in 1.21 the final three furlongs occupying 40 2-5. Beau Repaire is in great heart for racing ahead and will probably have his next outing at To Rapa next week. Gaily’s Big Dividend. Gaily paid the largest dividend of the day when she beat Rustem in the Whareroa Handicap at Hawera yesterday. Rustem, too, was at a very long price and he was unlucky in the running. Solaria. Le Toquet. Lickem. Gaily and War Lap were the. leaders approaching the straight. Gaily began to draw away when she reached the distance, but a little later Rustem appeared on the scene finishing strongly. Gaily, however, hung on ■ for a threequarters of a length win at an outsize in dividends. Le Toquet looked dangerous halfway down the straight but did not finish very well. Rollicker was a poor fourth. After making a fast run round the leaders on the home turn and covering a lot of ground Solaria failed to stay. Tooley Street was always well back and Armacourt made an indifferent showing. Ned Cuttle’s Great Effort. Finishing sensationally Ned Cuttie got up in time to snatch a narrow victory in the Egmont Cup yesterday just when Royal Star II seemed to be sure j of success. Ned Cuttie was handily placed as the field ran through the straight the first time, with Classform and Royal Star II making the pace. Royal Star II led along the back, where Classform, Play On, Ramleh and Ned Cuttie followed and Siegmund was at the back of the field. Tahurangi temporarily moved up close to the leaders, but did not last long. Royal Star II went away from Classform as soon as they straightened up for home and he was well clear a hundred yards from home, where Ned Cuttie was coming fast wide out. It still seemed almost impossible for Ned Cuttie to win. but coming very fast he eventually won by a nose. RACING FIXTURES February 8 and 10.—Egmont. February 10 and 12. —Poverty Bay.
