Mr N. R. Cunningham, of Masterton. has left for Australian on a short business visit.

The death occurred in Otaki last night of Mr David Richards, a picture proprietor and a one-time deputymayor. He had held several important positions in the town and district. Mr C. P„ Hainsworlh, general manager of the Centennial Exhibition, who has been ill since Saturday, was reported last night to be making a good recovery.
The following were guests recently at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Masterton: G. S. Heron (Gore); C. J. Smith (Auckland). Rowlins (Hastings), W. Waaka (Matariki), J. S. Jenkinson. R. Blinkhorn (Palmerston North), Vickers and Akel (Wellington). Mr H. Daysh, of the Masterton office of the Agricultural Department has been transferred on promotion to Auckland. As a parting gift and expression of the good wishes of the members of the local office, he was presented with a fountain pen. Surgeon-Lieutenant D. M. Page, R.N., formerly of Invercargill, has returned from England to take up duties with the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy. Lieutenant Page is a graduate of the Dental School of Otago University. He was well known in Otago Rugby circles, being a member of the University A team. He is a brother of the All Black, Captain J. R. Page, who is a member of the Ist Echelon of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
Archbishop Panico, who was Papal Legate to the New Zealand National Eucharistic Congress, has resumed with th£ finish of the congress his title of titular archbishop of Justiniana and Apostolic Delegate to Australia, New Zealand and the adjacent islands. He will leave for the South Island tonight accompanied by Monsignor King. Sydney, and his itinerary will keep him in the south for several weeks. He will return to Wellington on February 27. Yesterday Archbishop Panico visited the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, at his home, Northland. Among those received by Archbishop Panico toward the close of his stay in Wellington were the acting-Consul for Switzerland, Dr Walter Schmid, and the Rabbi of Wellington, Rev Katz.
