Swimming Competitions.

The weekly competitions of the Masterton Amateur Swimming Club will be held in the Dixon Street baths at 8 o'clock tomorrow night. Sketch Club Exhibition.

A notable attraction at the Centenial Exhibition next month will be a display by the Wellington Sketch Club. The Masterton Sketch Club has been invited to send a selection of sketches for inclusion in the exhibition, and 21 have been forwarded for approval. Patriotic Fund Donations. The secretary of the Provincial Patriotic Council, acknowledging recepit of the first remittance from the Wairarapa of £615 10s 2d to the Provincial Patriotic Fund, on behalf of the council states that he would like to congratulate the zone on the very creditable Flag Day returns, and on the contribution of the Labour Party’s Christmas Fair.

Special Train for Exhibition. The Masterton Inter-House Association states than an error was made in the time of departure of the special train which will leave Masterton on Easter Saturday for the massed display at the Centennial Exhibition. The time of departure will be 6.15 a.m. and the time of arrival in Wellington 9.50 a.m. The return train will leave Wellington at 11 p.m. Military Reserve Parade.

Class 11. of the National Military Reserve paraded at the Masterton Drill hall last night. An officer's class of 12 mgn went through a course of map reading. No's 1 and 2 platoons carried out rifle exercises and Lewis gun training work. The ex-soldiers entered spiritedly into the work. The instructors were local N.C.O.s of the Hawke's Bay Regiment. Messrs W. A. C. Pullar (Masterton). C. 11. Matthews. T. Allen and V. P. Boot. New Zealand’s premier runners, are reported to be keeping very fit and are fast approaching top form for the attack on the 4 x 1 mile world relay record at the Masterton Park on February 17. The record is at present held by the Indiana University, the time being 17min 16.2 sec. As the Park track is considered to be the fastest track in the Dominion, the prospects of breaking the record are stated to be very good. The four athletes mentioned have represented New Zealand in international athletic meetings in various parts of the world.
