A. & P. ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. LAST NIGHT'S BUSINESS. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held in the Farmers’ Rooms last night, the president (Mr R. E. Gordon Lee) presiding over a fair attendance of members. Several apologies for -absence were received. The acting-director of the New Zealand Institute of the Blind wrote thanking the association on behalf of the board for its kindness in. granting to the Women’s National Welfare League space al the Show. The board sincerely appreciated the association's generous action and expressed the hope that the show would prove an unqualified success. The action of the secretary on the matter was endorsed. His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Mr R. Boulter, wrote slating that he would not be able to attend the show.

Major J. W. Bird, officer in charge of the Wairarapa College Pipe Band, wrote stating that although members of the band were not yet reassembled, he felt sure that the band would accept' the society’s invitation to play at the; night show on February 13. The General-Manager of the New Zealand Railways, Mr H. G. Mackley, wrote expressing his appreciation of the co-operation received from the show committees. The secretary of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association wrote stating that the association had decided to enforce the licensing of showmen regulations at the Dannevirke Show. The letter was received.

The Masterton County Clerk, Mr J. C. D. Mackley, wrote stating that the County Council had decided to grant £2 2s to the show prize money. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the council for its generous action.

Donations were received as follows; Mr Duncan McGregor, £2 2s; Mr W. Rigg, £1 Is, and Mr D. ,W. Foreman £5. Eleven, new members were elected. The Town Clerk of Greytown wrote advising that the Mayor, Mr A. W. Horton, had invited the business people in Greytown to close their premises at 11 a.m. on People's Day of the Show.
