CARTERTON SALE. GOOD PRICES REALISED. Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co Ltd report as follow: We held our weekly sale at our Carterton yards yesterday when we offered a big yarding to the usual attendance. Prices were good throughout. The best lambs made good money, and culls were about the same as last week. Fat cows were in keen demand and were well up to last weeks prices, while forward cows also were in demand. Several pens of dairy calves were offered, the first of the season,’ and made up to £3. Pigs were on a par with late sales. The following are the prices realised:— Sheep: Fat lambs. 17s 6d, 20s, 22s 6d, to 24s 9d; fat wethers, 22s to 255; fat ewes, 13s, 15s, 15s 6d to 17s; b.f. rape lambs, 14s 3d, 15s lOd to 16s 8d; woolly wether lambs, 9s 4d. 10s Id to Ils; woolly ewe lambs, 13s to 14s lOd; shorn wether lambs, 10s Id to 12s; small ewe lambs, 5s 2d to 7s 3d; small wether lambs, to 5s 6d; small m.s. lambs. 4s 5d to 7s lOd; four-tooth wethers. 18s to 18s Id; cull lambs, 3s, 3s 5d to 4s 3d; small b.f. lambs, 9s 8d to 10s 4d; m.a. ewes, 15s to 16s 4cl; store ewes, 6s lOd to 9s; cull ewes, 2s Id to 5s 4d.
Cattle: Fat cows (heavy), £7 to £8 8s; fat cows, £4 15s to £6 12s 6d; fat heifers £5 to £5 15s; forward cows. £3 to £4 2s 6d; store cows, £2 to £2 16s: cull cows, 7s 6d to 30s; cows and calves. £3 15s to £4 3s; weaner Jersey heifers, £2 3s, £2 10s, £2 17s to £3; bulls, £3 15s, £4 10s, £5 10s, £6 10s, £7 ss. £B. to £8 10s; E. station cows, to £4 ss.
Pigs: Weaners (good). 17s to 20s, ditto (medium), Us to 16s; ditto (small) 5s to 10s 6d; slips.'2ls to 225; store pigs, 24s to 26s 6d; light porkers, 29s 6d to 325; porkers, 35s to 40s: sows to farrow, to £2 13s.
