GOVERNMENT RECEPTION
DISTINGUISHED SOCIAL ASSEMBLY. PREMIER’S PERSONAL GREETINGS (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. The old ballroom at Parliament Buildings was packed with a distinguished social assembly this morning when Cabinet Ministers and members of Parliament on behalf of the Government entertained the Papal Legate. Archbishop Panico. and members of his suite to morning tea. In the early part of the proceedings the host was the Deputy-Prime Minister, Mr P. Fraser, but Mr M. J. Savage arrived later and conveyed his personal greetings to the Legate, who was accompanied by members of his suite, the Right Rev Monsignor King and the Very Rev Dr J. H. Hannan. Also in the party were Archbishop O'Shea and a number of visiting bishops and clergy and prominent Jay people of the city. Archbishop Panico later laid a " wreath on the war memorial.
