PAHIATUA RACES

GAY MIMIC WINS CHIEF EVENT. DAINTY SHEILA SALUTES JUDGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PAHIATUA. This Day. Four first-day winners succeeded again on the second day of the Pahiatua Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday. They were Gay Mimic, who won the main event, after winning the Pahiatua Cup on the first day: Miss Leighon, who won both the Maiden Race and the Trial Plate; Dainty Sheila, who won the two races for hack stayers; and Solaria, who won both the open sprints. The track was soft and a good deal heavier than on the first day. because of further heavy rail! during the night and in the morning immediately before the races began. Luckily one shower only fell during the racing. The attendance was good in the circumstances, and though the totalisator was down for the two days £5903 10s, as compared with last year, the result was good under the disappointing conditions. The totalisator handled £9822 10s on Saturday, which,’ with £7501 the first day, made a total of £17,323 10s. The corresponding figures last year were: £10.288 10s; £12.938 10s; total, £23.337.
