The totalisator handled £49,828, compared with £40,679 on the first day last year, an increase of £9149. The attendance was 11,250 against 12,000 on the same day last year. Wanganui Rehandicaps. Rehandicaps for the first day of the Wanganui meeting next Thursday have been declared by Mr H. Coyle as follows: Springvale Juvenile HandicapArmy Girl, 7.13. Wanganui Cup.—Gay Mimic, 7.8. Flying Handicap.—Solaria, 7.10.
Gay Mimic Again.
The principal event at the Pahiatua races on Saturday, the Mangahao Handicap, provided the best finish of the meeting when four horses. Gay Mimic, Corroboree, Le Toquet and Tidewaiter, swept across the line almost together: Gay Mimic won by half a head from Corroboree with half a neck to Le Toquet and Tidewaiter half a length away fourth. From the start Gay Mimic, Granvale, Le Toquet and Tidewaiter raced almost abreast for a furlong and. a half and round the turn before Le Toquet went to the front from Tidewaiter and Gay Mimic while Corroboree moved up into fourth place. Tidewaiter challenged Le Toquet but Gay Mimic came to the front in the last 50 yards. Corroboree finished very strongly.
