BOWLING CLUB COMPETITIONS. ("Times-Age” Special.) In the semi-finals of the rinks competition Brown, Brunton, Curtis, McLeod (s) defeated Nightingale, Nelson, Rees, Carter (s). In the pairs Dennes and Shedden beat Higgison and Brown. In the singles Shedden beat Carter; Dennes beat Robinson; McLeod beat Brunton; Curtis beat Day; Brunton beat Burns. Dennes and McLeod still have one life and Curtis and Higgison two lives. In the pairs competition Connolly and Carter and Kilgour and McLeod have 2 lives each, and Shedden and Dennes one life. Personal Items. Mrs F. Pound, of Lower Hutt, was a visitor to Greytown for the weekend. Miss D. Richards is spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr W. Dunn, of the Ngaruawahia Camp, is on a visit to his parents in Main Street. A Heavy Gale. During Sunday a westerly gale commenced and reached its height at 5 a.m this morning. Branches were broken off trees and small fruits were badly battered about. In conversation with the manager of the Grey town' Fruit Co., your correspondent was informed that the gale had. caused the ground to be covered with apples.
