Mrs Oswald O'Connor and Miss Nita Phyllis O’Connor have been the guests of Mrs Norris Trass, of Miki Miki. Mr and Mrs T. Jordan. The Terrace, Lansdowne, have been visiting Wellington. Mr and Mrs G. D. Biggar, Wanganui, are at the Prince of Wales Hotel. Masterton. today.
Mrs H. C. Pearce, Featherston, is staying with her sister. Mrs R. Fell. Lower Hutt.
Mr and Mrs Armour, Christchurch, are staying at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton.
Miss Leatham, New Plymouth, is visiting Mrs S. M. Baird. Cole Street, Masterton.
Mr and Mrs A. N. Seaman. Auckland, stayed recently at the Hotel Midland, Masterton.
Mr and. Mrs S. L. P. Free, High Street, Masterton. are visiting the South Island. Mr and Mrs W. G. Lamb, Masterton, were recent visitors to the Chateau Tongariro.
Mrs F. Moss, who has been staying with her mother. Mrs W. McKenzie, Essex Street, Masterton, has returned to Waverley.
■ Gisborne guests at the Prince of Wales Hotel, Masterton, today, are Mr and Mrs E. W. Sweetman and Mrs M. Pinching.
Mrs F, Cooper, who has been visiting Mrs F. C. Lewis, Renall Street, Masterton, is returning to Queensland this week.
Miss I. Tankersley, Johnston Street, Masterton, has returned from a visit to” Auckland and is spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs Ferris Fuller, Masterton. is staying with her parents, Mr and Mrs F. J. Campbell, Dunedin, while her husband is serving with the forces. Sir Harry Batterbee, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, with Miss Isobel Biggar, and Mr G. H. Meadmore, Commissioner General for the United Kingdom Pavilion at the Exhibition, gave an afternoon party in the pavilion yesterday in honour of the Marquess of Willingdon and the Marchioness of Willingdon. Among those present were Mr and Mrs T. Jordan, Mayor and Mayoress of Masterton.
Among those present at the centennial ceremony at Petone on Monday was Mrs Selina Carter, aged 82, who lives on Wellington Terrace. She is the daughter of one of the Aurora’s passengers, Mr Andrew Brown. This ship arrived at Petone on January 22, 1840. Mr Brown, who was 19 years of age at the time, arrived with his father and two brothers. They always lived in Wellington province and at Kapiti, where Mr Brown owned a schooner.
