FEATHERSTON COUNTY

HALF HOLIDAY FIXED. RATES WRITTEN OFF. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council held at Martinborough yesterday the statutory half-holiday in the county was fixed for Saturday afternoon. The ranger reported having impended 5 head of cattle during the month. The sum of £605 13s was written off in rates as unrecoverable. The engineer, Mr H. F. Toogood, reported in detail on the work being carried out in the county. The overseer’s report stated that general maintenance work had been carried out in the ridings.
