TINUI FORESTERS

SPORTS ON FEBRUARY 3. The Tinui Foresters’ Sports Club will hold its annual sports meeting in Mr H. Bennett’s paddock at Tinui on Saturday, February 3, commencing at 10 a.m. A splendid programme of events has been drawn up, the total value of trophies and cash prizes being £lOO. There are five running events and 28 horse competitions while there will be numerous races for children. The East Coast tug-of-war championship is an event in which considerable interest is being taken and in which a large number of teams are expected to take part. There are several cups to be competed for, the horse events being well endowed in this connection. The Tinui sports meeting is always a favourite one with athletes and horse-owners, and consequently there is sure to be a large number of entries. Full particulars can be obtained from the hon secretary, Mr W. P. Laing, “The Peaks,” Masterton (telephone 487W). The judges at the meeting will be: Horse events, Messrs R. Speedy, J. Innes, A. Pavitt; pony events, Messrs H. W. Schofield and M. M. Innes; foot events, Messrs A. A. Schofield and R. C. Miles. The starters will be: Horse events, Mr E. H. Schofield; pony events, Mr F. H. Bennett; foot events, Mr R. W. Perry. A dance will be held in the Tinui Hall in the evening.
