O’Connell of Palmerston North, will be the guests of Mr and Mrs B. Dinnan for the weekend. Mr W. Pearson, of the County staff, left for Wellington today. Mr and Mrs Crawford, Palmerston North, are guests at Liverpool House.

Mr W. Oldham left for Trentham Camp yesterday.

Negligent Driving. At a special sitting of the Magistrale's Court yesterday, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.. John Tredray was fined £2 and 10s costs on a charge of having negligently driven a motor vehicle at Hamua. “Why do you sit all day at your desk?” "I am an author.” “What do you write?” “I am at present writing a novel.” “What a stupid idea.
