ENTRIES CLOSE ON JANUARY 24. Entries for the Eketahuna Centennial Sports which will be held on Saturday, February 3, will close on Wednesday. January 24. Included in the programme are events for ladies and junior competitors. Programme are obtainable on application to Mr C. Hausman. Eketahuna.
Personal Items. Mr and Mrs B. A. Blandford. Palmerston North, returned home today, after a visit to friends. Mr and Mrs D. Dinnan and Miss M. O’Connell of Palmerston North, will be the guests of Mr and Mrs B. Dinnan for the weekend. Mr W. Pearson, of the County staff, left for Wellington today. Mr and Mrs Crawford, Palmerston North, are guests at Liverpool House.
Mr W. Oldham left for Trentham Camp yesterday.
Negligent Driving. At a special sitting of the Magistrale's Court yesterday, before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.. John Tredray was fined £2 and 10s costs on a charge of having negligently driven a motor vehicle at Hamua. “Why do you sit all day at your desk?” "I am an author.” “What do you write?” “I am at present writing a novel.” “What a stupid idea. You can buy a good one for seven and six.”
