A Parliament with an entirely 1 new complexion met crowded galleries. The supporters of the Prime Minister, General Smuts, including eight members of the Dominion Party, four Labour members and three Native representatives, number 84. while the Opposition numbers 67. General Smuts, with a clear majority of seventeen, will proceed with war measures which, in terms of the Gov-ernor-General’s speech, will not impede the constructive development of the country’s resources or the continued improvemenF of the people's life.
ANTFWAR MOTION NOTICE GIVEN BY GENERAL HERTZOG. (Received This Day, 1.1.5 a.m.) CAPE TOWN, January 19. General Hertzog gave notice that he will move in the Union Parliament on January 23: “That the House is of opinion that the time has come to ent)/ the war against Germany and to restore peace.”
