GREYTOWN
PERSONAL ITEMS (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr R. G. Vile was a visitor to Wellington during the weekend. Mr and Mrs S. C. Shedden returned to Greytown at the weekend. The four Greytown bowlers, Messrs N. S. McLeod, F. Dennes, S. C. Shedden and H. G. Carter, who participated in the Centennial Championships, returned to Greytown at the weekend. Mr H. J. Nightingale is visiting Wellington. Miss Florence Hobbs, who has been staying with Mrs G. Robinson, has returned to Wellington. Heavy Rain. After a stifling hot afternoon Greytown experienced a tropical downpour at about 4.30 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. The bowling green was covered with a sheet of water and the water channels in the main street overflowed. During the night heavy rain continued tc\ fall. For the 24 hours 21 inches was registered. Swimming Carnival. Providing conditions are suitable the weekly carnival will be held at the public baths this evening. On Thursday the Greytown Club will pay a visit to Lower Hutt, leaving at 5.15 p.m.
