A gusty northerly wind tested the skill of players today when the New Zealand centennial bowling tournament was continued. Sixty-seven teams are competing in post section play for the pairs championship on the sudden death principle. After four rounds today, the field will be reduced to eight and play in this event will be continued next week. Results are: First round: Box (Barrington) beat Rudman (Nelson), 22/20; Livingstone (Onehunga) beat Fruish (Claudelands), 21/20, Hawken (Hamilton) beat St John (Maitai), 22/16. Second round: Hendry v (Masterton) beat C. Wilson (Newtown), 19/12., (Results of yesterday’s play appear on page 9.)
