PARKING DANGER

LOSS OF PETROL FROM CARS. Many motorists appear to be unaware of the danger of leaving cars standing on the side of a road having a high camber. In the ordinary course of events no danger attaches to this practice but in models which have the petrol tank cap on the left or lower side, there is a real danger of fire if the petrol leaks out, as is often the case if the tank is full and the car is standing in the sun. The heat causes the petrol to expand and the only outlet is through the cap o'f the tank. A car was seen in Queen Street this morning, from which petrol was flowing freely from the petrol tank cap. Needless to say, a-match carelessly thrown down would easily start a blaze that would not only endanger the car but the buildings nearby as well. Moreover, many gallons of petrol must be lost in this way, at a time, too, when every effort is being made to conserve supplies.
