+ STATE HOUSES WORK OF ERECTION COMPLETED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The five houses built by the State in Birdwood Street are now completed. The tenants will occupy’them on Monday next. ,j Rain Benefits Crops. The rain which has fallen during the last week has had a very beneficial effect on all crops. A farmer at Kahutara pressed 900 bales from five acres of hay. Potato crops also are very good. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs lan Carlyon have returned to Wellington after having spent a few days at "Penrith.” Mr J. W. Card has returned from a brief visit to Wanganui. Mrs E. Boyd and her young children are the guests of the Mayoress (Miss H. Card). Mrs S. Raper is paying a brief visit to Wellington for the purpose of seeing her son Allan off with a troops convoy. The following Featherston men have passed the doctor as fit and will enter camp shortly: William Charles, Gordon Colman, and William Woodham.
