The story of a humble New England home at the turn of the century is convincingly presented. The vivid story traces the romances of two sisters, who fall in love with the same man. Miss Keeler wins his affections, while Miss Shirley conquers her own jealousy. A romantic theme of the story is a mother’s dramatic efforts to keep her four children together and provide for them in the face of extreme privation. In addition to the brilliant, sensitive performances of Anne Shirley, Ruby Keeler and James Ellison, splendid portrayals are given by Fay Bainter. Ralph Morgan, Jackie Moran and young Donnie Dunagan.
