MISHNA WINS CHIEF EVENT. CHAMPION HACK RACE TO CLASSFORM. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ December 27. The summer meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club concluded at Awapuni today, when there was again keen racing. The principal event, the Liverpool Handicap, was won by Mishna, and the shorter open races were won respectively by Night Eruption and Russian Ballet. The champion hack provided the best finish of the day, halfheads separating the first four, the winner being Classform. The weather was threatening, alternating with fine periods, but except for one or two light showers it remained fine. There was a sharp shower just before the last , race. Insufficient rain fell overnight to alter the going, which was fast. There was a good attendance, but the totalisator returns for the.day showed a substantial decline of £11,37!) the amount put through being £28.659, compared with £40.038.
